Data from public registers

Find out what’s being built near you

Vorbau shows flats and houses long before they appear on property portals. Every project shows its stage: projected, authorised or under construction.

Where the register provides it, you’ll see the number of dwellings, their rooms and floor areas, and the heating system. So you can tell at a glance whether a project suits you.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the data come from?

From public registers: new-build projects from the Federal Register of Buildings and Dwellings (RBD) of the Federal Statistical Office, building permit applications and forced auctions from the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce (SOGC) and the official gazette portal (amtsblattportal.ch). The base map is from swisstopo.

How up to date is the data?

We sync the sources daily. How quickly an entry appears depends on when the municipality or canton updates the register or publishes it in the official gazette.

How precisely are auctions located?

That depends on the publication. Where the plot or address is given, we place the marker there. If neither is given, the auction appears at municipality level. The detail view shows how precise the location is.

Why are building permit applications from Lucerne and Aargau missing?

These cantons don’t publish building permit applications on the official gazette portal we source them from. New-build projects from the RBD and forced auctions are not affected and cover all of Switzerland.

How much does Pro cost, and how do I cancel?

Pro costs CHF 14 per month or CHF 120 as an annual pass. You can cancel the monthly subscription at any time. The annual pass ends automatically, with no renewal and no need to cancel.

How can I pay?

By credit card. For the annual pass, you can also pay with TWINT. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

Is my data shared with anyone?

No. We don’t pass any data on to third parties, don’t set advertising or analytics cookies and don’t use tracking. Details are in the privacy policy.

Who is behind Vorbau?

Vorbau is operated by EAS International in Basel, owned by Urs Zimmermann. The company is independent and not affiliated with estate agents or property developers.
